Shiori-do Gate

Shiori-do is a typical Japanese inner garden gate. Many of our projects work with such gates, so we have a myriad of examples. We can make these now custom sized for $600 to $1000 depending on the size and number of crossings.

Pictured: This Shiori-do was designed with vinyl coated brown wire inserted to coral small dogs. The fence is a Kinkakuji and has the wire embedded as well.

Shiori-do with Pergola

The gateway encloses a typical Japanese inner garden gate called a Shiori-do. The Shiori-do is woven from strips of green bamboo which cure out to the normal bamboo brown yellow color.

Tight Woven Shiori-do

This is a typical, but very tightly woven, Shiori-do gate. Modified at the customers request to have a tighter weave.

This is an unusual shiori-do. The customer wanted 50% opacity.

Shiori-do and Bushes

This delicate gate works with the natural plantings. This woven gate is called a Shiori-do in Japan light and strong. It is a traditional inner garden gate. Normally we use bamboo for a hinge pin and a traditional rope hoop latch.

This very tightly woven shiori-do is light and very strong. The latch is normally a natural fiber rope loop.
