FAQ - about bamboo fence & fence installation

This topic should help you choose the right product and provide the information you need for installation.

Learning the Terms

Fencer Says: It is helpful to use defined terms when talking about anything. For fencing the terms are pretty easy. Posts are vertical members, usually placed in the ground or attached to a deck or other surface. Posts support the fence panel. The rails are attached to the posts. Rails are horizontal members attached to the posts. Rails support pickets. Pickets are vertical members that do not support the panels. Pickets may be diagonal rather than vertical. When diagonal, pickets add to the stiffness of the panel.
The Different Types of Prefab Fencing

Fencer Says: There are three lines of fixed stock panels offered by Yucatan Bamboo as part of the tropical rain forest reclamation project:

(1) Yunku Fences (2) Ticul Fences (3) Teabo Fences

Another type of prefabricated fence is Rolled Fences
Custom Made Fences

Fencer Says: Museum Quality fences are custom "stick built" pieces in most cases and are not for sale as a catalog item. See Design Services for my costs. More designs of available fences and other products are added as customers define particular needs and desires.
Fences on a Slope

Fencer Says: One of several considerations in planning a fencing job is the slope of the ground. If the ground is flat, it is of no concern. If not, you have two options:

(1) Slope to grade. This may require that we build the panel with the slope taken into account or that we modify the construction to allow you to adjust for the slope.

Or,

(2) Step to grade. When you step to grade the rails and top and bottom of the panels do not align horizontally and you get a triangular wedge of open space on the down hill bottom of the panels.

Give us a call and we will help with special requirements of this nature.

Bamboo Fences Mixed with Wooden Fences

Fencer Says: Bamboo does blend nicely with cedar and other wooden fences. Below is an example of a cedar and Ticul bamboo fence installed in the same year.
