How do you install Tatami?
Tatami is a tightly woven grass. It has a natural waxy surface. I do not believe that a water-based wall paper paste will work with it. It will lay flat and therefore can be captured on the edges with molding. Should it need support near the center it might be possible to staple it without the staple being seen if done carefully. A spot here and there of industrial adhesive may work well to do the same thing, without making removal later too onerous.
The Tatami that is used to make the Japanese flooor mats looks very similar, however is is woven very tightly and with a heavier grass. Tatami floor mats are very thick with lots of cushioning below the Tatami. The edges are bound with cloth. Our 180 weave may do well in the same configuration, however, probably will not take the years of heavy traffic that the heavier weave is capable of withstanding. (Barefoot of course!)
