How are the bamboo board panels finished?

The finish is very much like clear shaved wood. There is a very thin urea base compound that provides no sealing effect at all. That is, you can stain or paint it and the results are a uniform absorption. It could be installed and left alone, however, I fear that it will absorb oils or stains of any kind. I would recommend at least a clear sealer to prevent a splash of something with color from making permanent stains.
