As our name suggests, our specialty is bamboo rolled fencing. Our popular Bamboo Friendly Fence is available in enough colors, diameters, and heights to suit the needs of any backyard project. Built and riced for DIYers seeking a sustainable and stylish material, the Bamboo Friendly Fence fits in both simple and more complex framed installations. Many customers simply attach it to an existing chain-link fence, while others build handsome custom frames from readily available lumber.
Bamboo Fencer was founded in 1987 by Dave Flanagan. Dave discovered bamboo while stationed in Panama while with the Coast Guard. After working with bamboo artisans in Kyoto, Japan, then earning a degree in horticulture, Dave started Bamboo Fencer with the aim of increasing demand for bamboo in the United States and helping to reduce our dependence on less sustainable hardwood lumber. Dave retired in 2006 but still works with us and our as a consultant.
Bamboo Fencer has collaborated with a tropical rainforest restoration project in the Yucatan. The bamboo grove there now supports dozens of local Maya families, provides habitat for wildlife, and helps to rebuild the depleted topsoil.
Bamboo Fencer products have appeared in several episodes of "Victory Garden" on National Public Television and in the Home and Garden Network's "Breaking Ground."
